"Bitzy's Story: Healing the Pain of Silence"
This book was completed and then buried as it waited for others in the memoir series to be published first. What could you tell your five year old daughter that would keep her flat in her sick bed for six months without television, electronic devices or the ability to read? Bitzy, the main character, is a five year old girl who lives with her parents and three siblings in a small mill town in Shakerton, Massachusetts. Bitzy represents all of us in our struggle to become successful, creative, well-functioning individuals. She had just entered the first grade in school when a long term illness, rheumatic fever, challenged her life. Rheumatic fever is no longer a threat to young children due to the discovery of antibiotics, but a long term illness leaves emotional scars affecting the way children view themselves. The cancer children of today suffer from these same emotional insults.
Bitzy's Story is written with the tight, limited view of the world that an infant would have during birthing, being compressed and pushed along in its struggle to reach an opening to new life. Ride with Bitzy through the diagnosis and then the long confinement which shaped her picture of herself. And revel with her as she reaches freedom. Bitzy's Story Review Something goes wrong in life and we are left with unsettling emotions. Among the many possibilities are loneliness, neglect, sadness, confusion, anger, unlovable, misunderstood and many others that make us miserable. Read Bitzy's story and you will discover that you are not alone; that someone else has also shared feelings much like yours. Your story will, no doubt, be different; however, the reactions could be quite similar. Now that she is a psychotherapist, read grown-up Bitzy's insights for a better understanding of and reassurance that your events and experiences are not unusual. We are, after all, members of the same species: humans. --Georgia L. Stauffer, RN (retired) 3 30 2023 |

She does go into therapy, and this starts the inner review of the men in her life. Does she indeed not know how to make a loving partnership? Travel with her on this mission of discovery. Did she touch hearts, did she hurt men, and will she be able to move on to a truly beloved couple ship? Hear the stories of her adventures and misadventures in this search for a heart.
This is the middle book in a series of three memoirs which tell of the author's struggles with the various processes of growing up. The first book is entitled Bitzy's Story, the second is Hunt the Beloved, and the third is A Bird and the Dragon. These books are not being published in order because of the interests of the publishing market. When they are all published they can be read in any order. Do understand there may be overlap. |

This book is in process and will be a compilation of articles written before for the newspaper or here on the website in an effort to shed a new perspective on the human condition. The articles will be grouped by topic and hopefully these will become a handbook for the reader who loves psychology or a gift book for people looking to marry and start a family.
There may be articles coming on the blog page, if you find topics are missing or you have suggestions to make the book more user friendly, please go to the Contact page and share your thoughts. This is a work in progress. I could use your help! |
